Dr. Abera Legesse - Director
Abera is the founder and director of Glimmer for Street Kids. He grew up in the community of Kore and worked for many years at an international school called Bingham. After several years he felt a calling to go back and serve Kore, the community in which he was raised. As a result of that, he started Glimmer in 2012.
Abera studied Leadership and Management. He did his Bachelor’s at Radiant International Seminary of Ethiopia, his Master’s at Jephthah International College and his Doctorate’s at Galilah International College. He has a second Bachelor’s in Social Work and Community Development from Jephthah International College.
Abera is married to Beletu and together they have four children - James, Yabets, Haleluya, and Amen.

Molly De Bruin - Deputy Director
Molly began volunteering at Glimmer in December 2022 and recently joined the staff. She has a Bachelor’s in Ministry Leadership and Biblical Studies from Lancaster Bible College. Previously, she worked as the Director of Connections and Administration at Proclamation Church. She has three sisters and two brothers.
Molly loves working for Glimmer because she loves the community of Kore and loves working with kids.

Yakob Sulore - Program Director
Yakob has worked for Glimmer since March 2023. Before that, he was a barber for over 10 years. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Leadership from Berhane Wongel Theological College. Yakob is married to Zinash and they have three children - Yabits, Yeabtsega, and Lidya.
Yakob likes working at Glimmer because he loves serving the kids in the sponsorship program.

Bethlehem (Beti) Meaza - Social Worker
Beti has worked for Glimmer since March 2023. Previously, she lived and worked as a nanny in Dubai for five years. She is working on her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Jephthah International College. She has five brothers and two sisters.
Beti loves working for Glimmer because she loves social work and doing home visits.

Aster Abebe - Accountant
Aster has worked for Glimmer since August 2017. Previously, she worked as a social worker. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Rift Valley University. Aster is married to Wondosen, and they have two children - Nolan and Herman, and a third child due in January.
Aster loves working at Glimmer because she loves serving the community.

Yiftusira W/Aregai - Cook
Yiftusira has worked for Glimmer since April 2023. Previously, she worked as a cook in Dubai for 10 years. Before that, she worked as a hairstylist. Yiftusira is married to Gezahegn.
She loves everything about her job, especially the things that Glimmer provides for women.

Hilena Tsegaye - Cleaner
Hilena began working for Glimmer in October 2018. She has ten years of experience in cleaning. She is married to Tizazu and they have two children - Mahlet and Biruk, and a third child due in January.
Hilena likes everything about her job. She has recently gained additional responsibilities, what she enjoys.

Yigzaw Beyene (Shebelow) - Guard
Shebelow has worked for Abera since April 2023. He has six years of experience working as a guard. Previously, he lived in the countryside and was a farmer.
He likes working at Bridge School because it gives him hope for the future.

Tsegaye Abebe - Teacher
Tsegaye grew up in Kore. He started working for Glimmer in November 2020. Previously, he worked as a teacher at Medan Social Center and before that at a private school for two years. He has a Diploma in Teaching from Kotebe University and another one from Medan Social Center. He has also received further training from Teach Beyond. Tsegaye has two sisters.
Tsegaye likes working for Bridge School because he likes helping the kids in his community.

Asmarech Fentahun - Teacher’s Assistant
Asmarech has been working for Glimmer since October 2023. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Civics and Ethical Studies from Bonga University. She has one brother and one sister.
She is looking forward to developing her teaching method and wants to become a teacher someday.

Mesret Adane - Cook
Mesret has worked for Glimmer since February 2023. Previously, she lived in Dubai for ten years, where she worked as a cook. She also worked at a daycare before. She has Certificates in Cooking from Skafier School and Sami Cafe. She is married to Fikadu, and they have two sons - Amanuel and Nathanem.
Mesret loves working for Bridge School because she loves the kids and serving them by providing nourishing meals for them.

Sheway Gebre - Cook
Sheway has worked for Glimmer since November 2020. Before, she was a cook at another organization. She also worked as a cleaner at Alert Hospital for seven years. Sheway holds a Certificate in Cooking from Tesfa University and another one from Teach Beyond. In addition, she has a Certificate in Volunteering for an HIV program from Hiwot Organization. Sheway is married to Melse and they have two daughters - Nigest and Dagim.
Sheway likes working for Bridge School because she enjoys helping the kids by providing food for them.

Trengo Tefra - Cook
Trengo began working for Glimmer in November 2020. Previously, she worked as a houseworker for six years. She has a certificate in cooking from Teach Beyond. Trengo has two daughters - Hiwot and Redit.
Trengo likes working for Bridge School because she likes working in Kore and she knows most of the students. It is a pleasure for her to work at Bridge School.

Tihitna Miniweyelet - Nurse
Tihitna has worked for Glimmer since April 2023. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Bethel Medical College.
She likes working for Glimmer because she likes working with pregnant women. She also likes that Glimmer has a focus on the Gospel.

Bethlehem Birara - DHI Social Worker (Doula)
Bethlehem started working for Glimmer in February 2023. She has worked for DHI for seven years and has a Doula Trainer Certificate. She has one daughter - Ephrata.
Bethlehem likes working for Glimmer because she has freedom. She enjoys spending time with her staff.

Enate Mengesha - Lactation Consultant
Enate began working for Glimmer in February 2023. Previously, she worked making and selling injera and jewelry. She has a Certificate in Lactation from DHI. She is married to Mekonnen and they have four children - Rahel, Hanna, Meklit, and Eyuel, and a fifth baby due in December.
She loves working for Glimmer because she loves spending time with the mothers and teaching them how to feed their babies.

Genet Wolde - Doula
Genet began working for Glimmer in February 2023. She has worked for DHI for nine years. Before, she worked as a cashier for a government bus, as a writer for a government office, and as a secretary for a local district office. She has a Secretary Diploma from General Winget Vocational Training and a Diploma in Accounting from Queen’s College. She also has short course training in teaching and food prep and a Doula Trainer Certificate. Genet is married to A’imro and they have two children - Tinsae and Nohamine.
Genet likes working for Glimmer because she loves serving the mothers and children. She also likes that it is peaceful to work here. She sees God’s work being done.

Medhanit G/Giorgis - Doula
Medhanit began working for Glimmer in February 2023. She has worked for DHI for eight years. Previously, she did security for a local district. Before that she made jewelry.
She has a Diploma in Social Work from Birhan Social Development College and an Advanced Certificate in teaching from Afro Symbiosis College. She has a Certificate in Sunday School Teaching from her church and a Doula Training Certificate. Medhanit is married to Mulugeta and they have three children - Eyobed, Rediet, and Abigail.
Medhanit likes everything about her job.

Rahel Wubshet - Accountant
Rahel has been working for Glimmer since February 2023. Before that, she worked as an accountant for Brook Hills for three years, as a social worker at Bingham Academy for four years and at a government office for a year and half. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Rift Valley University and a Diploma in Information Technology from General Wengit Polytechnic College. Rahel is married to Tedrows and they are expecting their first child in November.
Rahel likes everything about her job.

Jenny Browne - Doula Nursing Support
Jenny began volunteering for Korah Kids in October 2022 and for DHI in May 2023. She has a Bachelor's in nursing from Georgetown University and a Master's as a Family Nurse Pracitioner from Maryville. She worked for many years in critical care at Washington Hospital Center (DC). She is married to Ryan and they have four children – Elisha, Keziah, Lana and Lydia.
She loves working with women in their most vulnerable times. Because she was pregnant herself and worked in that field she loves to work with pregnant women. She also likes to bring joy to kids who are in difficult circumstances.
